Speculation mounts as Frieze put up for sale; European galleries join forces in NY; Ropac to open pop up in St Moritz; Lisson adds radical artist to roster

Having recently set an auction record of $28.5mn for the British-born surrealist Leonora Carrington , Sotheby’s has two more works by the artist to kick off the New York season of sales on November 18. Top-estimated is her two-metre-high wood sculpture “La Grande Dame ” priced between $5mn and $7mn and with a third-party guarantee to sell.

The Silver Lake transaction is due to complete early next year. Two Europe-founded contemporary art galleries — Warsaw’s Wschód and Cologne’s Galerie Khoshbakht — are joining forces for a year in New York. They open together on November 20 in the Lower East Side space run by Wschód since 2023, with a show of work by the Polish video artist Igor Krenz and British sculptor Beth Collar. Thereafter, the galleries are planning alternate exhibitions, culminating in another shared show.
