In the video, Brown discusses growing up as a transgender man, saying, “I always knew I was different. I didn’t know that there was a term for the type of person that I was.” Among those critical of the ad is political commentator Tomi Lahren, who took to Twitter to say,"It's a little much to normalize and promote high-school-aged kids undergoing hormone therapy and gender reassignment. Don't ya think?"
Author and media personality Tariq Nasheed chastised the company for ignoring black civil rights issues and insinuated that the singular choice to feature a black transgender man effectively undercuts the overall civil progress of black people.
