Food Poisoning News

Business Business Latest News,Business Business Headlines

Community leader, Sammy Lebogo, has called on authorities to investigate suspected food poisoning.

A community leader in Mangaung, Sammy Lebogo, has called on relevant authorities to urgently investigate the source of suspected foodLebogo’s call comes after a recent incident in the province, 47 learners from the Ihobe combined school in Mangaung, Bloemfontein, were admitted to the hospital earlier this week.

There are concerns about children getting sick after allegedly consuming goods from schools or spaza shops. Lebogo was part of a meeting with officials from the provincial Education Department, Mangaung Metro, and the civic movement Mangaung Concerned Citizens. “We don’t want to act, we are waiting for specialist people to come and verify, the government must come with health inspectors to come and verify food products or anything that is being sold here at TFS, because if the shops at the location are the problem, but they are buying at TFS, now the wholesaler is our major problem,” says Lebogo.

“So our stance as the community we say no one must come in, people must go out and the place must be closed until the verification process has been done by health inspectors, with the municipality and the government,” he added.Author
