Tesco's Finest champagne has beaten the prestigious Moet & Chandon in a Christmas taste test.Consumer choice website Which? asked a panel of four independent wine experts to blind-taste a selection of non-vintage champagnes.Tesco Finest Premier Cru Brut Champagne, which is £25, came in first place with 82% - beating Moet & Chandon, which is almost twice the price at £44 and scored 77% in the test.

Also winning over the panel was Aldi's £22 Veuve Monsigny Premier Cru Brut Champagne which scored 80% and won on a Best Buy endorsement. Waitrose's £25 Brut NV Champagne also received a score of 80% and got a Best Buy endorsement.Natalie Hitchins, Which? home products and services editor, said the panel ultimately found 'affordable and delicious options that were dramatically cheaper than alternatives from the big-name champagne houses'.
