The Progressive Conservative government tabled legislation last week that would terminate a 10-year contract with The Beer Store in order to allow the sale of beer and wine in corner stores.
It was signed by the previous Liberal government and permitted beer and wine to be sold in hundreds of grocery stores. The president and CEO of the chamber says cancelling a contract sends an alarming message to the business community in Ontario and beyond. Wow, great article (was it 100 words or less type of essay). What I don't understand is why anyone would sign a 10 year deal with an international corporations for a model that belongs in the 60's
BS, this monopoly that has received sole source contracts for decades despite changing to foreign ownership deserves to be undone. It’s the 21 century why should any government limit where you can buy a beer to one company? Next up privatize the LCBO
so what ford is axing all sorts of ideas but that one is just plain wrong after ripped so much off the people = perhaps not even a bad idea if you are into adult dumbing down
If it deters this kind of shady, screw-the-taxpayer deals, that would be a very, very good thing.
