With December fast approaching, . Naturally Germany is considered the home of Christmas markets, with tourists making a beeline for Cologne, Frankfurt and Berlin.
The town’s fairytale-like timber-framed buildings provide the perfect backdrop for the Medieval Market, where stall-holders dress up in oldie-worldie costumes and street performers walk around in stilts. In fact it’s not just a market, it’s more of an experience.You can expect to find traditional gifts with crafters and makers demonstrating their skills right in front of you, from basket-weaving to glass blowing.
The town is very easy to get to from Stuttgart, one of Germany’s major cities which is a direct flight away from Manchester Airport. Although Stuttgart is home to its own Christmas market, it’s well worth checking out Esslingen as it's only a 10 minute train ride away.
