Britain's car industry is in crisis due to insufficient demand for electric vehicles (EVs), according to Lisa Brankin, chairman and managing director of Ford UK. Brankin called for government incentives like tax breaks to encourage drivers to switch from petrol and diesel. The Ford UK CEO stated that the company has invested over £350 million in electrification efforts but emphasized the need for increased customer demand for EVs.
Meanwhile, Vauxhall owner Stellantis announced plans to close its van-making plant in Luton, impacting 1,100 jobs. This move highlights the broader challenges facing the UK automotive sector
