Premier Mabuyane spoke to SABC News ahead of the World Aids Day commemoration in East London.

Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane says the challenge of the unavailability of medication at public health facilities is largely perpetuated by Medico-Legal claims that cut into the Health Department’s budget.commemoration in East London where Deputy President Paul Mashatile will be delivering the keynote address.“Yes, we are having huge chronic historical challenges in the department arising from our baseline being eroded by Medico-Legal but the basics are still being done.

This day is a global commemoration that contributes significantly to raising the awareness of HIV treatment, prevention and the progress made so far within the HIV/AIDS community. This year’s theme is, “Let Communities Lead”, which places communities at the forefront of confronting the barriers that are driving the global epidemic further.
