Back in 2019, the average cost of a burger and a pint from the UK's biggest pub chain Wetherspoons was £5.99. Five years later, it'll set you back £8.79 - according to the menu at The Standing Order in Edinburgh, though admittedly that's still very cheap for a meal on George Street in the very heart of the city.
Last weekend , Nina shared a video of Edinburgh's Christmas market in which she detailed everything she ate while she was there, including loaded fries, pies, salt and chilli chicken and fruit crumble - an impressive amount for one visit. The stall also sells a "Highlander" version topped with haggis, bacon peppercorn sauce and crispy onions, and a spicy option - layers of cheese sauce, jalapenos, grated cheese and buffalo sauce.
Finally, Nina rounded off her culinary adventure by visiting Edinburgh Crumble who sell - yes, you guessed it - a variety of fruit crumbles topped with lashings of custard. One stall even went viral on Reddit last month after people found out that a bratwurst and fries would set them back £15. Someone else referred to the £12 cost of the traditional loaded festive fries as "robbery", while another person who had also visited the market recently wrote: "Cost me £7 for a pint of warm beer! And £12 for salt and chilli chicken - I paid and they were bang average! It was air fryer salt and pepper shredded chicken.
