Today, I’m talking with Mustafa Suleyman, the CEO of Microsoft AI. Mustafa is a fascinating character in the world of AI — he’s been in and out of some pivotal companies. He was one of the cofounders of DeepMind, which got acquired by Google in 2014, then became a Google VP for several years before leaving in 2022 to found another AI startup, Inflection.
So, in that sense, AI itself is actually in production across the company. It’s not like we’re just waiting for chatbots to suddenly and miraculously generate a new business model. LLMs are being used at all sizes across the existing business for all kinds of things, like even in Edge, for example, for transcription and summarization built into the browser. There are so many different ways that AI is showing up.
