A Denver-area man is being charged with multiple counts of defrauding nearly 30 clients, including some professional athletes in Colorado.Ian Gregory Bell, 35, was indicted on 18 charges from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and faces more charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission. Both organizations announced the charges Monday.Bell is accused of lying to investors about his trade performances and sending fabricated screenshots of the investors’ account performances, according to the SEC.
The complaint also notes that several of Bell’s investors referred family members and friends to him and that Bell lost nearly all of this investors’ money. He allegedly kept hundreds of thousands of dollars for his personal use and lied about his efforts to repay investors, the SEC’s complaint reads.
