Most were not aware of the ruling but were very familiar with the proposed merger. While a few people, including some posting to social media, were disappointed with the court's decision, the overwhelming majority were relieved.

A statement reads in part: The state insisted the judge's ruling protects Washingtonians struggling with high grocery prices and the workers whose jobs were at stake.
"It's just so many people would be hurt by it," said Blades. The union representing grocery store workers in the region said they opposed the merger since ‘day one,' arguing it's better for customers and workers without a merger.
