He cited Etukudoh's unauthorized press statement about a gas supply shortage as the reason for his dismissal, emphasizing that public servants must seek clearance before issuing statements. Eno also highlighted the state's N40 billion debt to Acugas, the gas supplier, and criticized Etukudoh's approach to resolving the situation.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has spoken, one month after the unceremonious sack of the former Managing Director of the state-owned power company, Ibom Power Company, Engr Meyen Etukudoh. The governor, who has remained mute amid the backlash from citizens over the sack of the former MD had on Tuesday at the Day-2 of the ongoing Inter Ministerial Briefings/End of Year Review in Uyo, said the step was necessary to restore sanity and development in the power sector.

He said 24 hours power supply in the state is achievable and gave the Commissioner for Power, Engr Camillus Umoh a matching order to ensure its realization. His words, 'There are things I don't want to say here because I don't want to be misquoted but I can tell you as a sitting governor for 18 months, the only time I got a brief from Ibom power was when the Honourable Commissioner for power took over the place .
