You’re a big construction company, and you need workers. Hundreds of workers. The trick is the mix of skills—and number of personnel for each location—changes every day.
Sure, you could do it yourself, and historically, that’s what construction companies and many other employers did. However, today, it’s more efficient, and scalable, to leave the recruiting to a staffing company’s algorithms, contact database, mobile app, and even text-messaging service.Delivering that kind of speed and scale, along with cost efficiency, drives much of staffing business success these days.
“We had four different permanent payroll providers, three separate time-clock entry systems, and a couple of different expense systems, just to name a few,” says Derrek Gafford, TrueBlue’s CFO and executive vice president. “Oh, if you now need to research hourly workers, there were those three separate time entry systems to query as well,” Gafford says. “You wouldn't believe how many hundreds of manual workarounds were in place simply to get payroll done right.”
