Before working in public policy, Orkin prepared to teach literature at the university level. Through a personal experience, she decided to study public policy. “I came out of that experience,” she states matter-of-factly, “and said, ‘I cannot do academia to academia. I need to go out and actually work in the world of education. I need to at least understand the root challenges and things that are both in the public policy domain, but that affect our education and affect economic systems.

Orkin has been transforming lives and corporations for over 20-years and is able to reach a broader audience when she speaks at universities and conferences. She just hosted a workshop on deep listening also known as the creative inhale at the Adobe 99U Conference. She guided participants to cultivate their creative inhale by attending to the information being received and defining the challenges each of us has set out to solve.
