A group of transport network vehicle service (TNVS) providers has sought help to President Rodrigo Duterte in solving issues surrounding the ride-hailing market in the country, and have also appealed for amnesty of some 5,000 deactivated drivers recently.

Deactivated Grab drivers park their cars in front of the LTFRB along East Ave in Quezon City, as they protest the deactivation of 8,000 Grab Drivers.

In the seven-page letter, the group added it wants amnesty for the 5,000 TNVS partners whose livelihoods were imperilled due to the mass deactivation done by ride-sharing firm Grab Philippines. Apart from this, the group also appealed to the President and to the DOTr chief to allow a “beta-test” on hatchbacks in the ride-hailing industry, similar to the six-month pilot-test run granted by transport regulators to motorcycle-taxis.
