Traditional landowners in Western Australia have been left devastated after a Chinese-owned company destroyed a large portion of sacred bushland allegedly without the appropriate permissions

Traditional landowners in the North West have been left devastated after a Chinese-owned company destroyed a large portion of sacred bushland allegedly without the appropriate permissions.

"The government needs to prosecute and there needs to be a fine that will be a detterent from this kind of thing in the future ... we're also calling on the company to rehabilitate the area of land they've damage." "We are calling on the WA government, through the Environment Minister Stephen Dawson, to prosecute Shanghai Zenith for the unauthorised clearing," it read.

"In the meantime, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation issued a vegetation conservation notice for Zenith to cease all clearing works," she said. Ms MacTiernan said this had not happened with Yakka Munga, as no clearing permit was sought by the proponent.

Didn’t see anything wrong. All from someone’s oral speaking. It is an obviously discriminatory article.

Of course the Australian Govt will do nothing because the bush was destroyed by the Chinese! Destroyed by an Australian and they would have the book thrown at them!

I hate China

No different to what Adani will do to the traditional owners land in Qld. Governments don't care but give them permission to ruin the landscape. Thanks to those who voted for them Huh

Shit happens when you can't manage the land you allegedly have traditional ownership of Maybe they need someone to help? How many more $ would they like?

But let’s stop tourists climbing Ayers Rock 🤦‍♂️

Did anyone really think they could be trusted?

And people wonder why the Traditional owners get upset. They get trampled over yet again by another mob of foreigners. Nothing has changed. Is Traditional ownership just Tokenism? Seems that way. Glory but no power for the First Australians...

Your Bogans and HouseNegro mates have incited RacialHatred against Africans and now Chinese 43a6f0ce5dac4ea. Are they responsible for ChristchurchMassacre Peter90666913?

Hey Australian politicians our prime minister stop foreign countries buying our land

Then the Government must step in and act immediately to halt this illegal activity and to pursue and bring to justice with the full force of the law all those that are guilty of these crimes. There is no room for diplomacy here. There is no diplomatic immunity.

Hold them accountable, Chinese or non Chinese

Well I hope they are dragged before the courts, and a very large fine is imposed. And at their cost the area is restored as best it can be. Wont fix the damage or the hurt though.

Chinese peepaw juz wanna buil a haow

Ass holes don't care... thoughtless fool may karma strike you where it hurts (your bank balance).

Chinese at work supported by corrupt and incompetent governments, politicians and administrators. Most elected sold to corporations for 30 pieces of silver.

F&*king Chinese 😡

I welcome our new overlords. Seriously, you really think white guilt on Aboriginal affairs will wash with our new immigrants from the East?

... Chinese owned company .. Illegally clears & destroys reef Fiji. ... Chinese owned company .. Illegal plastic waste dump - Malaysia. ... Chinese owned company .. Arrests Philippines. ... Chinese owned company .. Illegal mining Zambia. On it goes. No regard for environment.

slsandpet No one seems to care enough

Hahahaha

Wonder what the outcry would be if an Aussie bulldozed down a sacred Buddhist, Toaist or Confucianist temple in China? Its the same thing. Land is sacred to these Aussies sin crime

The Chinese, once they have purchased land, don't give a toss whether it is sacred or not. They own it, they do as they please.

StevoJimmy What else to expect when you flog off your land to the Chinese?

What about countless 'Australian' farmers, graziers or corporations that have & continue to mindlessly wreck this large brown land which as a 'whole' is sacred to the First People? Don't see holding them responsible for the vandalism & degradation?! lozpilat

Allegedly? Could you possibly be a tad more convincing?

PerrettReport Cry us a river

They think that they can do whatever they want...because that's what they do in China! Not here mate...pack your rice and go home!

Saudi owned company doing same, why is Australia sale land to foreign companies?

Fucking Chinese. Again.

Despicable

So 'appropriate permissions' make the 'sacred bushland' no longer sacred? What sort of crap are they spinning? We're being played for suckers again.

Where is the proof they own it, where is the proof they were here first. There is none is there

Keep them off our lands. Im sure we can find good reason too, legally, going by this result.

Just give them a carton and a commodore. She’ll be right

Confiscate the land and hand it back

Lease agreement was broken, kick them off.

atrocious!
