Argus and GA have called off talks about the sale of a 25% stake to CPPIB valuing the company at £2bn, Sky News learns.

Both provide information, benchmark prices and analytics relating to oil and other commodities.

It is unclear whether Argus may in time consider an alternative transaction aimed at crystallising a premium price tag. He is regarded as having been the driving force behind the growth of the business, which employs nearly 1000 people and has offices in 22 key commodity trading locations around the world.
