Men with beards are killing the razor industry:

That’s what some bearded men are doing to save time and, in some cases, money, to boost their own personal brand and professional image.

He’s one of many millennial men ditching razors. Procter & Gamble PG, -0.20% on Tuesday blamed its recent $8 billion writedown on its men’s grooming brand Gillette on millennial men who aren’t shaving as much as previous generations. . Beards are increasingly trendy, despite research suggesting that men with facial hair are regarded as more mature, but also dominant and aggressive, according to a 2012 study from the Behavioral Ecology journal.

Men working in health and/or safety industries tend to have stricter workplace policies around being allowed to have a beard. David Miller, 30, from Queens, worked as a lieutenant in a volunteer fire department that enforced a clean-shaven grooming policy when responding to incidents that required a fitted mask, respirator or hazardous materials.

“But you know what really burns a hole in my wallet and tests my patience at the same time? Buying replacement blades for my Gillette razor. Mind you, I love my Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor, a five-bladed marvel that all but ensures I get a relatively close shave each morning with a minimum of fuss.”

Ben Rose, the founder and senior editor of the site, wrote, “Many women responded that the attractiveness of the beard was contingent on the quality and upkeep of the beard. It seems many who have beards don’t do the proper maintenance necessary to keep their beards looking neat, clean and healthy.”

JazzieIntrovert Gillette losses wholly caused by a mindless campaign, i am not a millennial and switched. The moron ceo said he didn’t care

At the cost of those blades who could blame them

Has anyone read the article through to the bottom lines where it comes to how women see the case?🙃The figures may of course relate to the age (those who earn 100K are not the younger ones)+the overall number of women beyond the hipster generation is bigger, but..⬇️⬇️ beards

Well, time to change your business plan P&G

Let. It. Die. 😂 🧔

Gillette - lower your prices. Maybe we will start buying your products again.

choptopmoseley That trend is over. Shave that shit off already!

Razor companies are killing themselves with their Wokness. Diversity kills, America and Americans win.

Really? Stop it.

Sell ball waxing kits

swati_gs Well, they should diversify into beard trimmer business!

swati_gs Or maybe due to your constant bickering and demonizing while Males, they have switched over to other brands.

This also just in: millennial men looking to shave more frequently blame Procter and Gamble’s exorbitant razor prices for failing to do so...

swati_gs Is that Lord Bendtner in the pic?

It's actually your anti-men ads you posted, Gillette. That's why I don't buy from you anymore.

swati_gs Then come up with low cost beard trimmers.

swati_gs Interesting. Earlier it was only about 'No shave November' but now extended to the whole year!!

Also millennial girls don't shave as much

Maybe they should blame sitting on their hands while DollarShaveClub and Harry’s ate their lunch while they continued to try to maul consumers for overpriced BS cartridges.

Right. Not dtc brands?

I use disposable razors from Costco. I have for about ten years now. Pack of twenty for like $6. Screw the price of today’s razors. They’re completely unnecessary and criminally overpriced.

If you have a beard, you still have to shave. They oughta blame it on how expensive their blades are. Harry and David and Dollar Shave Club are winning . . . FormOverFunction MakingStuffUp

And I care why?

I was thinking about this today the hipster will destroy the shaving industry

Pubes are in!!

Start marketing to women with beards Problem solved!

So, all razor manufacturers are down like this? I think it is more likely that this goes back to the conservative boycott due to the Toxic Masculinity position they took in the last couple of months.

Or maybe the toxic masculinity ads? GET WOKE GO BROKE

I won’t buy their products...if millennials find this as a great ad, then they have already collapsed.

Hey crappy market watch...according to Gillette CEO Gary Coombe, the billions of dollars that the company cost parent company Proctor and Gamble was totally worth it. According to MarketingWeek, the ad was a “price worth paying” if it helped to reach the millennial generation

Maybe it’s because Gillette razor blades are so damn expensive that I would rather use an alternative.

All of these virtuous people need to understand that there are consequences to their actions. When you insult virtually your entire customer base, $8b things can go wrong.

Perhaps their ridiculously over priced razors are killing the razor industry

Gillette needs to look in the mirror when it’s marketing to men shaving.

beckmansasikter Might be Gillettes horrible hate commercial also. I still shave - but I will never more buy Gillette.

Really? & Here I thought it was their PC pandering ads!

Tja, mss een idee om mannen hun hoofd te laten scheren.

just like jfk killing the hat industry.

Lmaoooooo Attempted leftist social engineering coupled with subtle threats, bias and double standards quite worked out well for Gillette

Fuck the soyboys at Gillette

I bet you they're shaving they're pubes...

Umm, maybe the razor just became way too damn expensive

Very few guys look decent with a beard. It is like they are trying to make themselves look awful.

What a stupid headline from a business that claims to be watching the markets. Do better

No, Woke policies are killing Gillette😂😂😂

.Apparently men with beards are a problem for Gillette along with toxic masculinity. Webelieve TheBestMenCanBe

Maybe, just maybe, it might be market forces? See price and convenience: DollarShaveClub

Lol

jamskah Well, does it matter?

I dunno, electric shavers are much easier and environmentally friendlier

Me too video didn't help

Let it die. 🧔🏾
