T-Mobile will delay some 5G purchase orders until 2020, likely a result of its proposed merger with Sprint taking longer than expected:

a draft order to approve the merger. But it must be voted on by FCC commissioners and still faces a lawsuit from 16 states.

A continued delay in finalizing the Sprint merger could cost T-Mobile its position in the race for 5G. The proposed merger would put the combined carrier, to be called New T-Mobile, on par with market leaders Verizon and AT&T in terms of total subscribers.
