"That number hurts, that really hurts," said CEW president and National Tiles chairman Sue Morphet.
That 17 companies in the top 200 don't have one woman in their whole workforce good enough to go to senior executive level is nonsense, absolute nonsense.Ms Morphet said a gender balanced team had a 40/40/20 split: 40 per cent men, 40 per cent women and 20 per cent flexible depending on the dynamics within the company.
The 12 women heading up companies in the ASX's top 200 companies are Shemara Wikramanayake of Macquarie Group, Elizabeth Gaines of Fortescue Metals, Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz of Mirvac, Jayne Hrdlicka of The A2 Milk Company, Alison Watkins of Coca-Cola Amatil, Jolie Hodson of Spark New Zealand, Marnie Baker of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, Jeanne Johns of Incitec Pivot, Katie Page of Harvey Norman, Kate McKenzie of Chorus, Margaret Kennedy of Viva Energy and Amanda Lacaze of Lynas.
CEW identified these roles as being the big decision making jobs which make the money in the company and were a "critical pathway" to the CEO position. The percentage of women in line roles increased by 1 per cent between 2018 and 2019, with 87 per cent of those roles held by men. A spokesperson for Perenti said its new business strategy included a key initiative to deliver on diversity across the company.
BainAlerts Becoz it's based on merits not on reservations.
Meritocracy
The effort, time and sacrifice a person needs to put in over several decades to win a CEO position over strong competition is immense. Maybe women prefer a healthier work/life balance.
the good ones will rise to the top
I think that rating is not bad when compared to statistics of some other countries
Bit of a slap in the face to those 14 female CEOs (in the somewhat limited ASX200 dataset) to suggest they only got to where they are because of some kind of weird sexist quota system isn't it? Surely they gained those positions based on their skill, experience and qualification
Men are more inclined to high psychopathy scores
I’ve been a patient of chiropractic for over 30 years. I found a great chiro here in Au. Then she got pregnant. Now when I look for chiro, I look for a man. I would look for the same in a ceo for the same reason. That’s not sexist.
Others are mothers doing a much need job of keeping Humanity alive.
🙄
So... men’s fault right? Toxic masculinity again? 🤔😏
Thats because they arent part of the anglo-saxon white mens club. They arent alone, people of different ethnicity, race, religion and class are also excluded. What these women want is it to be a anglo-saxon white peoples club, they arent for diversity more broadly.auspol
So what? Men can’t bear children.
The endless female hiss, their default victim mentality, their inferiority complexes. Their own worst enemies.
