The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) called on legislators to pass a measure declaring September as Philippine Movie Industry Month as the country celebrated 100 years of Philippine Cinema Thursday.

In a press briefing in Malacañang, FDCP chair Liza Diño said that she was also hoping that the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino be institutionalized as the official celebration of the proposed occasion.

In November last year, President Duterte signed Proclamation No. 622, declaring September 12, 2019 to September 11 of the following year as the centennial year of Philippine Cinema.
