Treasurer Josh Frydenberg will use a speech to the business community to call for calm amid fears of a new war in the Middle East.

The Treasurer will use a speech to the business community to call for calm amid fears of a new war in the Middle East. Josh Frydenberg conceded the weekend’s drone attack on Saudi’s oil plant coupled with the ongoing US-China trade war and Brexit has created the perfect economic storm. However he is expected to use a speech to the Business Council of Australia on Tuesday to urge business leaders against overreacting to the economic uncertainty.

He will argue now more than ever, it is important to provide stability to the domestic economy. Global tensions heightened following the bombing of two massive Saudi oil plants on September 14. The US claimed Iran was responsible for the attack despite Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen claiming responsibility. US President Donald Trump declared on Tuesday morning no US military action would be taken until it could be determined who was responsible.
