The software-loving businessman spent 25 years building his 'little' company into one of the largest video-game studios in the world, Activision Blizzard, Inc. Bobby Kotick was recognized as part of 2018's Variety500 presented by VZMediaPlatform

For more than 25 years, Activision Blizzard — an S&P 500 company since 2015 — has steadily grown to become an e-sports, merchandising and video-game powerhouse under Kotick’s leadership, having released mega-franchises “Call of Duty,” “World of Warcraft” and “Overwatch,” to name just a few.

Recently, Kotick turned his sights to bringing more stability and predictability to the fractured, still wild West e-sports landscape, with its most impressive effort being the creation of a well-monied city-based league for “Overwatch” that reeled in buyers ranging from traditional sports companies to management funds to e-sports experts. It’s now branching out to consumer products, film and TV, as well as building up its own store for online game sales.
