A Labour government will aim to end the sale of cars with internal combustion engines by 2030, as part of its plans to tackle the climate emergency.
Ask them their plan for the batteries that have to be replaced every 5 years.
SallyPresto More stupidity.
Great idea! Only 10 years to create the infrastructure.
More bullshit to try and get a few more supporters. 👎🏻
Lol good luck with that, give me diesel any day
Be bold UKLabour LibDems we need 2025 instead. Lead.
Classic case of public populism running ahead of industries and govt . The business model to switch infrastructure and deliver cost affordable profitable vehicle is not ready in this timescale . EVs are just 2% of global sales today
They are too expensive
electric vehicles battery production & utilisation will rise pollution dozen times higher,
Ban cars, buses and trains It will all help
A ridiculous assertion
So how will ordinary working folk like myself living rurally, be able to afford one? You need to answer that before spouting rubbish.
They have absolutely no idea about the problems this would cause.
Yes it's a fantastic idea but it will hit the poorest people that Labour are supposed to support electric cars are out of reach to so many and second-hand car market prices will go through the roof as the date gets near and afterwards some are going to make a lot of money
Remember, electric cars need to emit a sound when they're driving slowly, so that people with prams and dogs don't get run over by them.
I take it they have plan to ensure the reliable delivery of the required electricity given the increased demand on the power grid and, of course, a plan to deal with the safe disposal of the batteries which (like all batteries) eventually stop holding a charge.
Now that is a step in the right direction; nothing substantive will happen until Governments control business - and that won't happen under the Tories. Fracking anyone?
As things stand and given the timescale that could require a massive subsidy on electric vehicles. I'm not against more electric cars and see them as the future but how do you make them affordable for the average punter?
That's ok. After Brexit, everything will run on wood and coal, anyway
Go away Labor...
