A talk on community cleanliness, with emphasis on plastic and plastic waste management, was recently launched in Los Baños, Laguna to raise the awareness of business owners and organizations on the status and management of plastic wastes.

SyenSaya’s Technology Forum entitled “Ang Plastik Mo: Isang Talakayan Patungkol sa Kalinisan ng Pamayanan” was derived from the Department of Science and Technology’s annual National Science and Technology Week theme. “Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development” which showcases the United Nations Development Program’s Sustainable Development goals.

The forum covers two of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations General Assembly. The goals namely are: Goal #6, Clean Water and Sanitation, and Goal #12, Responsible Consumption and Production. The forum also addresses some of Goal #12’s targets which is by 2030, we must be able to substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse, and to encourage companies, especially large and transnational companies, to adopt sustainable practices and to integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycleThis year, the forum’s speakers tackled on how they manage, clean, or reduce plastic wastes in their respective communities.
