NSTnation: No reports were lodged to the authorities on the purchase of Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites by Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB) although it was made above the RM100 million investment mandate set by its parent company.

Former FICSB chief executive officer Mohd Zaid Abdul Jalil said this was because there was no misconduct in the RM160 million purchase of the Kuching-based hotel as it was made based on the FICSB board’s decision.

“There was no misconduct in the hotel deal on part of FICSB because this was based on the board’s decision,” he added. According to Zaid, the FICSB management’s decision to sign the sale and purchase agreement and the payment made to the hotel owner was in accordance with the FICSB board of directors’ decision.
