Facebook executives including CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared new initiatives to help defend against election interference on the platform ahead of the 2020 presidential elections after the fallout over the 2016 elections.
He also announced Monday that Facebook has already shut down four foreign networks on the platform -- from Iran and Russia -- for allegedly attempting to interfere with upcoming elections. To fight foreign interference, Facebook has increased measures to combat inauthentic activity -- and on Monday morning removed a cluster of four separate networks of accounts for"engaging in coordinated inauthentic behavior," according to a company blog post.
Facebook also announced on Monday"Facebook Protect," which works to add an additional layer of security to the Facebook accounts of candidates, elected officials and more who may be vulnerable to targeting by hackers. Finally, as part of its strategy for reducing misinformation, Facebook announced clearer fact-checking labels that will indicate when content has been reported false by a third-party fact checker and link out to the fact-checker's analysis.
Right!
Anyone who allows proven lies to be facts on their media platform & does nothing about it can’t be trusted.
Hillary and the dnc colluded with Ukraine to effect the elections, Ukraine gave bad info on Manafort. He loves the money that ads bring in. Elections have not changed we need voter ID and get rid of the machines that are easy to rig.
It's a joke to blame tech companies solely when legacy news media has dropped the ball & continues to do so.
Anybody believe that?
FFS! FkZuck DeleteFacebook
Where’s the defense against hackers continuing to steal popular pages and take over ownership and selling them?!?! And still no justice or fixing 2 years later?!?!
Zuperberg to the rescue!
It's not enough. The platform needs to reject out and out manifestly false political ads. Our PENamerica statement.
