Office for Transportation Security (OTS) Administrator Undersecretary Raul L. Del Rosario recently convened representatives from government agencies and private sector companies to discuss matters related to developments in Philippine maritime security.

Del Rosario, who is also vice-chairman of the National Sea and Water Transport and Maritime Infrastructure Security Committee , said that following the guidance of Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, the OTS is moving to enhance the country’s overall transport security posture by instituting changes in security culture.

The agenda for this meeting included a review of matters discussed in the preceding NSWTMISC meeting, risk assessment of port facilities, status of compliance and security challenges on maritime security, maritime security training and accreditation, cooperative enforcement, and the status of the NSPSTMI’s implementation.

“But most important of all, we are seeking for your stronger and more active cooperation in the interest of security of our maritime industry, through cooperative enforcement.”
