PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has brushed off Seremban MP Anthony Loke's allegations in Parliament that he sub-contracted the Klang Valley Double Tracking Phase 2 (KVDT2) project to a China-based company.

Although the Transport Minister did not want to comment on the issue at length because the matter is now pending in court, Dr Wee said he had received the affidavit and was advised to clear his name privately to avoid the case from being politicised.

It was reported that while debating on the Bill for Budget 2021 in Parliament, Loke questioned the government's motive for cancelling the contract with DM-LTAT as the government would have to fork out RM1bil in settlement to the company, which already initiated a civil suit against them. Loke also said if the allegations were levelled against Pakatan leaders, they would be labelled as selling the country's interest to China and denying opportunities to bumiputra contractors.

He was correct this time. LVDT2 project was not contracted to China based company. It was sub-subcontracted.
