Water companies illegally dumping untreated sewage into rivers in England and Wales, investigation by BBC Panorama finds

Panorama gathered detailed data from 10 water companies in England and Wales through environmental information requests. They were each asked for information on a handful of sewage works.

Its Aberbaiden plant illegally dumped untreated sewage into the River Usk on 12 consecutive days in December. The Rivers Trust, an organisation which campaigns to protect rivers in England and Wales, has compiled a map of where Welsh Water told the programme it hoped to have a permit for the overflow pipe by July and it doesn't accept its sites are operating illegally.

Additional data about an eleventh water company, Thames Water, was shared with the programme by the campaign group Windrush Against Sewage Pollution. Another Thames Water site, Stanton Harcourt in Oxfordshire, dumped sewage almost continuously for three consecutive months at the start of last year.

As if we weren’t already in the sh*t with Brexit!!

So we are paying for our waste to be dumped illegally, time for a refund

Trouble is you fine the water companies for negligence and our bills go up to pay for it until you can fine the directors for incompetence nothing will change

Should be made to refund customers and put right the damage.
