Katsina State government has commenced the disbursement of funds to 685 victims of the Fatima Baika central market fire outbreak.
The state chairman of the committee and the commissioner for justice and attorney- general of the state, Ahmed Usman El-Marzuq, who flagged off the disbursement on behalf of the state government yesterday, said the committee had concluded its assessment on the level of destruction and identified shops owners that lost valuable items in the disaster.
He said the government is giving out the funds in fulfilment of the promise it made to contribute 40 per cent of the loss values to the traders.On his part, the chairman, Traders Association, Abbas Labaran Al-baba, thanked the committee for being transparent in the exercise, especially ensuring that everybody was captured irrespective of their political or religious differences.
