As COVID spreads through the West Australian community like never before, business owners like Rachael and Jasmine are left with some very difficult decisions to make.

"We've got mouths to feed, we've got children at home, and we do feel for those people," Ms Shaw said.

"We've got girls that haven't been able to come to work, but it's not really our problem at the end of the day. "We need to protect clients, we need to protect ourselves, we have to protect our families, but at the end of the day we don't have the funding to waive the cancellation fee." Ms Shaw said where customers did have to cancel they were open to working with them, including by asking for a deposit for their next appointment rather than a cancellation fee.either 30 per cent over four weeks, or 50 per cent over two weeks,The loss of revenue has to occur over a "comparable period" in 2021, although an alternative period may be used to provide an accurate representation of the business' financial situation.

But Ms Shaw said the salon still did not meet those requirements and so would have to find its own way through without government support. The tattoo studio Chrisna Tanra works at in East Perth is taking a different approach. If a customer has to cancel their booking because they are required to isolate they do not have to pay a fee as long as they can reschedule.Mr Tanra said it still had an impact on the business but was a cost they were willing to accept.

But we all wanted to go on holidays over East. Then with a tear in the eye rang TV & Radio stations that you couldn’t get back. We let you in, the kids got it (550 + schools got it) and now the Republic Of Western Australia is now screwed🤮

And all they wanted to do was bloody open up! Whinging every which way. givemeabreak

They got what they wanted. Funny that.

$250.00 not to get my locks done, I think I'd be booking somewhere more flexible.

Sooo if the hairdresser(s) spreads COVID-19 to customers are they going to pay their customers for loss of income? I think not. What a stupid business decision. Doesn’t help anyone, including themselves.

Sadly you chose to fear-monger by platforming Alan Joyce’s “North Korea” tantrums & other cold-hearted business interests over the legitimate concerns of ordinary Western Australians living covid free before the border opened. Simping 4 billionaires was more “draconian”.

Strange, for opening the State was exactly what small businesses wanted. covid19WA COVID19Aus

This is gold to read lol DAFers

Wow we’ve had almost two years of normal life and you start complaining after two weeks of level two restrictions! Seriously, think of it as community service

stop the emotive headlines

How can you endanger your own staff and clients by penalizing people for following a public health directive, ie staying home. Dumb as fck. Makes you wonder why positive people don't just say fuck it if they're going to be like that and infect them all

What happened to Mc🤡 saving WA from this

At least now they understand how the hospitality & tourism businesses felt that relied on interstate and international tourists and workers. You ignored them for 2 years.

Health First and Staying Safe. Vaccines, Distancing, Masks, Washing Hands, Ratts, and Common Sense are always on the agenda.

I'm pretty sure not spreading a brain eating bat virus trumps a haircut.
