Alberta funds new pilot program to bring more people into the construction industry ableg abpoli

As the province looks to fill a growing need for skilled tradespeople in construction, the Trade Pathways pilot program will offer paid 90-day placements with up to three different trades and cover costs including a portion of the trainee’s wage, transportation, tools, equipment and safety training.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for young Albertans looking to gain experience in a trade and it’s helping to support labour shortages across a variety of industries,” he said.Article content Gibson said the industry needs thousands of professionals to keep the economy going, with recent forecasts suggesting Alberta’s non-residential construction sector could be short as many as 6,300 workers by the year 2027.
