Remember shady business owners being what they are. Service charges legally belong to the restaurant. They can do what they want with them. Including keeping them all. Tips legally belong to the server.

I hate the service charge. It’s small print on a menu that people will miss and then be surprised by the final bill. I don’t agree with the thought that menu prices shouldn’t include all of their costs. Basic business model costs + margin = sell price.

We already passed this in 2018 why make us vote again lol

While a restaurant is legally prohibited from taking staff's tips, they can do what ever they want with a service charge include keeping it all.

'Just last week, Barone says a regular at the brewery spent $50 and didn’t leave a tip.' Seriously? Screw that customer and that should cost him his 'regular' status permanently.

maustermuhle great quote from the article: 'the idea of the customers essentially paying [a server's] salary as opposed to the place [they] work is kind of insane.'
