OTTAWA —The federal minister examining the remaining hurdle to the massive Rogers-Shaw telecom merger says he is in no hurry to give it the green-light.
The Competition Bureau has already decided not to appeal that ruling, meaning that after two years of regulatory hurdles, the deal has cleared most other stages of approval, including reviews by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission and shareholders. Champagne has said he wants assurances that Vidéotron will offer lower-cost services over a 10-year period, and told reporters this week he wants to see “more competition, more affordability and innovation in the sector — and this is what’s going to be guiding my decision.”
He hasn't got the balls to stop it. He's a LIBERAL
Hope this means you’re cancelling the deal FP_Champagne
At the Federal level this should be simple. Will this bring more reasonable wireless options to Canadians (who currently pay amongst the highest costs in the world)?
