A beautiful market town in the Lake District has been named the number one place to book a winter staycation.
Keswick, located in the heart of Allerdale and close to Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake, is joined in the top 10 by Cumbria's Ambleside , Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere and Troutbeck . Lancashire's Clitheroe and Ribble Valley squeeze into the top rankings, at eight. The remaining places are taken up by destinations in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Northumberland.
Tom Bell, the vice president of Awaze, who own Cottages.com, says travellers are still choosing South West areas for summer holidays, but the north is the clear winner in February. He added: "The rise in luxury breaks and pet-friendly breaks are also both continuing to prove popular among Brits taking a staycation this February half-term.
