The Progressive Conservative government paused implementation last year of a law from the previous Liberal government that would require all publicly advertised job postings to include a salary rate or range, bar employers from asking about past compensation, prohibit reprisal against employees who discuss compensation and require large employers to track and report compensation gaps.
"We're committed to closing the gender wage gap," she said in an interview. "I think taking the time and listening to the many stakeholders about how to do it properly -- and how to have, in some cases, interesting ideas that we haven't heard of on how to address the gender wage gap -- is valuable." "If you are an employer with 100 or more employees, how much do you estimate the cost of pay transparency reporting will be," such as IT, software and personnel costs, the consultation paper asks.NDP Leader Andrea Horwath said she is insulted by the questions, and all women should be, too.
Is there any proof on this a ConsideringI’ve never seen it before
Only reason to ask this is to make sure gender equality & race equality polocies are not implemented. No buisness or company is going want to pay for a study the government should be doing on their own. In the end Woman need start their own buisnesses or corporation for equality
Really would that matter ad ford is not likely to fix that so is this just a sneaky way to gain more info on folks
Since the gender pay gap has been conclusively demonstrated to be a complete myth (and the variances that do exist rest on women's own choices and preferences), why would the government want private businesses to spend even one cent on tracking it ? fordnation
So they can either justify not supporting it for 'business' reasons or pretend they're all for it if it isn't significant to too many bottom lines. I trust Ford as far as I can throw him & I'm not as strong as I was in my youth.
Equal pay for equal work. A survey is not going to fix the mindset, only time will fix it. Most employers are on the right path. There will always be employers that will not pay women the same as men, these old school boys will eventually no longer be in the workforce.
Let’s also track aggressiveness and being forward. Am I to blame for a pay “gap” when I have the backbone to tell recruitment I think I’m worth more than the original offer? Or aggressively negotiate a raise?
Employees have income tax records for 7 years.Let’s start there. Are good old boys club members seeking jobs for their kids by creating an equality agency to research and report on this matter?Has this investigation forced politicians to drop their posts&help fight accountability?
So I get paid the same hourly rate as women that works with me. I work overtime and take extra shifts, she does not.....ohhhh pay gap.
There is no “gender pay gap” There are people who choose not to exercise their rights. Like most social issues this is already dealt with under the law. The fact that someone chooses not to to pursue their rights under that law doesn’t change it.
Kind of ashame that Ford would sign off on something so worthless...log of social media boom no more wage gap
when the government pushes forwards law based on complete misinformation, it’s time for them to leave.
By not letting old white cis men decide.
first they have to admit that there is a pay gap to track it .....
