EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced the layoffs one month after competitor Activision Blizzard announced 800 layoffs.

With America's largest video game companies forced to make layoffs despite record revenues, its been an unsettling start to the year for workers within the industry. In

attending the Game Developers Conference, 44% said they worked for more than 40 hours a week; 47% of respondents said they felt industry workers should unionize."Today we took some important steps as a company to address our challenges and prepare for the opportunities ahead. As we look across a changing world around us, it's clear that we must change with it.

This is a difficult day. The changes we're making today will impact about 350 roles in our 9,000-person company. These are important but very hard decisions, and we do not take them lightly.
