A Centre County garbage company has been fined over $16,000 by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration following the death of one of its workers earlier this year.
Nathan Kerstetter, 38, of Milesburg, who worked for Newman Hill Inc., was killed on Jan. 17 while riding the back of a garbage truck, according to reports from The truck’s driver did not see an overhanging tree while he was backing up near the driveway of a residence, and backed into it while Kerstetter was on the back of the truck.
Kerstetter was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy later determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, according to news reports.
