Eight people have been killed following a shooting at a tavern in Kanana outside Orkney in the North West in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, the suspects arrived at the tavern allegedly looking for Basotho nationals before randomly firing shots. Six men and one woman were killed instantly while the eighth person succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. Several others were wouned.
“The suspects then took the CCTV system, cash from the till, and a snooker table. The suspects further robbed patrons of their cell phones and fled from the scene. Police are still combing through the scene,” Mokgwabone said. Police could not immediately confirm how many suspects were at the tavern or if any arrests had been made.
