Hollywood A-lister Will Ferrell has revealed for the first time how he ended up buying a minority stake in Leeds United. The 57-year-old bought a minority stake in the Championship club back in May.
"It was a movie about the American Basketball Association which is defunct basketball league and Pete Cornell was part of the cast and he emailed me saying that he was going to possibly invest and they had asked if I would be interested. I spoke with the chairman Paraag and next thing you know I was like 'please, sign me up.'"
When asked why so many Americans are investing into English clubs, Ferrell replied: "I think we are finally catching up to what a wonderful game this is. Americans are very heavy into their sports but there is still a level of devotion to English football that is unlike anywhere in the world. I think we find that exciting and admire it."
