Senior firefighter, Amile Conrad, along with hundreds of other competitors from across the country, were put through their paces. He competed against 300 of the toughest opponents from across the globe. Conrad says fitness is key in his profession.
“With the toughest firefighter especially, it’s such a high intensity, especially for us doing it competitively. You push yourself to the red and then there’s an element of recovering and so on. So that comes to play in real life as well because our environment is unfamiliar, you don’t know what to expect, we don’t know how long you going to fight, you don’t know if you going to fight for your own life or someone else’s life.
