“We started making pictures for this project without an end goal in mind,” make-up artist Thomas de Kluyver explains, discussing a new limited edition book Already Past and Already Again There, which he has published with photographer Zoë Ghertner. “We wanted to collaborate in a really free way, without the typical parameters of shooting. No deadline, no fashion credits – no starting concept really,” adds Ghertner.
” With the freedom to capture and create what they wanted, the result is a free-flowing series of arresting images that juxtapose the rawness of human skin with different textures and materials. Think clumpy neon-orange mascara and a pale, freckled complexion; beaded embellishment atop wet skin; and gloopy vibrant lip colour oozing into water.
