NHL veteran Darren McCarty says cannabis saved his life TheGrowthOp

Darren McCarty, former Red Wings hockey player, has four Stanley Cup championships under his belt and has set his sights on his next goal: starting his own cannabis company. McCarty has partnered with Pincanna, a medical marijuana cultivation and processing facility in Pinconning, Michigan.

McCarty plans to launch his own line of cannabis products, ranging from dried cannabis flower and CBD topical rubs, to infused gummies and candy bars. McCarty hopes the venture will help him win his next cup, the Cannabis Cup, a competition accessing the quality of different cannabis products. “I’m a four-time Stanley Cup winner, they’re [Pincanna] a 45-time Cannabis Cup winner. I’m going to be the first athlete with a Stanley Cup and a Cannabis Cup.

Looking forward, McCarty is excited for the added perks of owning a cannabis company, like coming up with those fun strain names. Having been a cannabis consumer and advocate for years, McCarty’s creative juices are already flowing. “I have a couple of ideas for the names . Something to do with four cups, maybe sweet revenge,” McCarty said, referring to his now-infamous fight with Colorado Avalanche forward Claude Lemieux, “The names will come from some pretty big moments that I’ve had.
