Some downtown Seattle business owners say they fear for their livelihoods and lives.

Inside the Century Square building on 3rd Avenue, the longtime owner of Cafe Zum Zum confronted someone he says was trying to steal from his restaurant.

“Yeah, this is everyday story,” said Shaw Mahmood. “You know there are so many homeless people outside. They will come in and we are not watching, and they will grab the tape, they will steal money. They will steal anything they can grab of it. We are sick and tired of everyday story.”A man was shot and killed Sunday afternoon, a half block away at 3rd and Pine. Last Monday, a man was shot and critically injured a half block in the other direction.

“So, I have to worry that somebody’s going to shoot me?” asked Leyla Farange, owner of Gyro’s Place. “What is this? Mayor? Where are you?”“The level of crime, the lack of public safety, as mayor, is unacceptable to me,” he said.“I inherited 900 officers, which is 500 short of where I’d like to be,” he said. “But I am asking our officers to do the best with what they have right now as I recruit new officers.”“I was 9-years-old when the war between Iran and Iraq started,” said Farange.

The business owners say their problems worsened after Little Saigon was cleaned up. They believe many who were there came here. And he and his staff are working to hold those breaking the law accountable.

Where is SWAT when you need them? there needs to be a major might in this area...criminals & addicts are just laughing at us,making a huge nuisance of themselves, clean the gutters & streets of the rats & vermin....I have lived here since 1966 & have never seen it so bad...

We moved out of Queen Anne overlooking Lake Union because of crime after 20 years in the city. When people come to visit we NEVER take them downtown cityofSeattle. Even going to sporting events is a risk if you don’t park in the garage

Seatroit. Seattle used to be the safest major city on the west coast. Now people get murdered on the street in broad daylight all the time.

Let’s face it under Durkan the Emerald City declined into a shithole! Having an ardent socialist & a bunch of liberal “democrats” on the City Council doesn’t help either. truth reality

And what has the mayor said about this? Silence. What those in the city council have said? Nothing. Wake up Seattle! These are not leaders, we can barely call them human beings! 😡😡

SeattlePD must do its job-stop making excuses. MayorofSeattle must divert resources to the front lines from advocacy programs now. When you have a fire, you pour water in it before it burns the house down. Pointing at the causes of the fire while it burns isn’t leadership.

The areas like that one around the Sound Transit stations now are open air drug markets. Light rail stations ruined the areas of the city where they were put in -- those are dangerous places now.

Oh right let’s blame gun violence on the party that would be more then happy to outlaw guns. Maybe our school aged children, can give you tips on how to avoid getting shot. Oh too soon🥴

why did Seattle bulldoze every government housing complex in King County and replace them with privatized mixed-income housing after shutting down every government mental institution and zoning out low-income households through tax hikes?

Thanks Kshama!

What a Seattle business owner may look like.

Form a business association. Hire armed security. The state cares nothing about you and has no duty to your safety.

Seattle is turning into Kabul

SeattlePD , you all think the software you strong armed the FBI for one of their own agents of Seattle Division is the coolest thing ever for law enforcement Think it’s funny Think it’s a game Think it’s permanent komonews KING5Seattle fox13seattle

The areas around the Sound Transit stations now are open air drug markets. Light rail stations ruined the areas of the city where they were put in -- no commuters because of WFH mean those are desolate and dangerous placed now.

D5Juarez SeattleCouncil this neglect in the name of progress has gone too far. Fund the police. Train them and give them the resources to their jobs and be deliberate about connecting them to the community.
