UWC Registrar, Nita Lawton-Misra, says for the first time honorary doctorates and gold medals will be conferred at a gala ceremony. “While honorary doctorates will be conferred on those who have contributed to scholarship and research, gold medals will also be awarded to individuals who have made significant and extraordinary contributions to the upliftment of society through exceptional leadership, community involvement and related activities.”The Gift of the Givers founder received the Peace Hero award for his latest efforts to come to the rescue of communities following the April and May floods in KwaZulu-Natal.
