HONG KONG: Macau's leader Ho Iat Seng said on Monday (April 20) that the world's biggest gambling hub was too dependent on the casino industry, warning that the Chinese territory was facing acute challenges as it emerges from the Covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

Making his 2020 policy address, Ho said the focus this year would be on dealing with the epidemic, maintaining economic stability and protecting the livelihood of citizens in the special administrative region.

The government will spend over 50 billion patacas in response to the epidemic. Macau has had 45 cases of Covid-19 so far. The government gets more than 80% of tax revenues from the gaming industry, which employs about three-quarters of the territory's 600,000 population, either directly or indirectly.

Macau had big Reserve hence they can diversify their income interests if they wanted to.

‘Over reliance’? The territory’s economy is almost 100% reliant on gambling. Ho will do exactly what his Chinese Communist masters tell him

Malaysia Genting too relied most of the core from it!
