The survivors of Australia's once thriving soft drink industry are experiencing a revival as customers seek out nostalgia, enjoy unusual flavours and support local businesses.

Queensland is home to four of the few remaining companies, possibly due to its preference for an unusual flavour"Small towns like Dalby had two, Toowoomba had three or four, every little town had one," said Murray Rosenberg, co-owner of Crows Nest Soft Drinks in Queensland. After bottling for 117 years, it was weeks away from closing when Mr Rosenberg, who was working in the mining industry, bought it with Alex Davidson, a retired baker.

I remember maybe 10 years ago.. 'Wimmers' soft drink company was saved from the clutches of Coka-Cola. Thankfully they're still around, on Qlds Sunshine Coast.
