One of the first things von Tobel looks for in a pitch deck is the founder's point of view and their quality of thinking. She wants to see that an entrepreneur is uniquely compelled to change something in the world and that they have a plan.
"Every investor knows the details are going to be somewhat blurry, but you're showing the quality of your thinking," von Tobel said. "That's the most important thing that you're articulating." Investors like von Tobel like to meet with entrepreneurs who have a "massive vision" for their startup, she said.
